This month we have two of the UK's finest wine producers sparkling wines on offer. Firstly we have Peter Hall from Breaky Bottom's oldest vintage from 2009
SPARKLING BRUT 2009 VINTAGE - “Cuvée Gerard Hoffnung"
“Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier Gold medal in International Wine Challenge 2015. Judges comments “Ripe malty fresh bready nose leading to a juicy mouth watering palate of fresh strawberries, lemon rind and grapefruit. Long rich crafted finish.”
Michael's comments; “This aged International Gold Medal winner will beat most mid range Champagnes, it uses the traditional Champagne grapes, has a real depth of flavour and lengthy finish. This wine changes people perception of English sparkling wines."
Secondly we have Wiston Brut from winemaker Dermot Sugrue which is a fine example of fresh English sparkling wine.
In some people’s mind the perfectly balanced wine, made up of the three classic varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier in equal parts. A refreshing, elegant and complete sparkling wine, with a fine complex finish that combines youthful purity of fruit with more mature characters from long lees-aging, this wine is an excellent way to begin a journey with Wiston.
“A cuvée of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay made on the South Downs by Irish winemaker, Dermot Sugrue, this is a complex, toasty, savoury fizz with fine bubbles, lots of yeasty, bready autolysis and a bone dry, tapering finish.” Tim Atkin MW, TimAtkin.com
In addition we have a selection of local Artisan products which include English Cold Pressed Chilli oil, perfect for dressings or with salmon, Kent Cider Crisps and Sussex based Montezuma's Chocolate.
